City living in a country town

At Spectrum Ridge in Pelham, R.I., the super rich can indulge themselves as they enjoy exceptional food, lodging and pampering. Amongst the amenities is a private, self-driving lift that whisks guests to the private roof deck, oasis with waterfalls and swimming pools.

The luxury community is built with what’s called “urban plantation architecture,” with some houses having a walk-out basement or outdoor patio. Anchored by main street spaces with patios, a heated pool and gourmet dining, Spectrum Ridge offers 110 furnished homes and 300-square-foot, loft-style townhouses for sale.

Owners have exclusive access to a private golf course and infinity pool, including a tri-level home with a wrap-around balcony and a solar heated pool and spa for the price of a standard, high-end condo.

A movie theater and sprawling games room are options. If golfing is more appealing, there’s a golf cart that wheels from hole to hole and is battery-operated to get the ball rolling as fast as possible. Or if you want a slower pace, a fully equipped breakfast bar has been installed in the guest room.

In addition to the homes, the community offers exercise classes and classes in Spanish and drumming. During the winter, there’s an annual snowshoeing and cross-country skiing group that takes to the nearby hills. In the summer, the final decision is made at the nightly bonfire.

Discounted rates vary for open houses and other special events, and a new wine tasting at Spectrum Ridge is taking place Oct. 1-2. Prices are estimated based on the current median sale price for Newport real estate of $1.2 million, according to Trulia.
