Britney Spears says she has no plans to give Oprah Winfrey interview

Pop star appeared in all-female panel show that will be broadcast next week, but says she will not go on Oprah anytime soon

The multimillion-selling singer Britney Spears has said she has no immediate plans to give an interview to Oprah Winfrey.

The pop singer, who has sold more than 200m albums, has appeared in all-female panel show The View that will be broadcast next week.

The Today Show reports that the singer made the comments at an event in Los Angeles earlier this week.

“I’m going to the show to support women and inspire other women. People will ask me questions and I’ll answer those questions. I’m sure it will be interesting,” Spears is reported to have said.

Rumours had circulated that Spears would give an interview to Winfrey in a bid to revive her career after MTV ran a poll in April that asked fans: “If Oprah were Britney Spears, what would you ask her?”

Fans chose that Spears talk about her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, who has broken away from the Spears family and starred in a US television show.

In another poll, fans had the choice of talking about Spears’ 2005 breakdown, and another choice was to ask Spears about her divorce from Jason Alexander in 2004.

Spears has maintained an on-off relationship with toyboy dancer, Sam Asghari, since she split with David Lucado last year.
