Tiger Woods posts first practice swing video in nearly two months

• ‘I’m swinging OK,’ says 41-year-old who did not appear in the video • Woods has undergone back surgeries four times since 2009

The two-time major winner Tiger Woods has posted a video of himself taking practice swings for the first time since leaving the course at the Honda Classic two months ago.

Woods has not played competitively since a crash into a tree in Florida left him with four back surgeries in three years. The 41-year-old did not appear in the two-minute video released on his official website and Twitter account which showed him hitting shots at Isleworth, his famous home course in Orlando.

“First time I’ve done this in a while, so I’m very excited,” Woods says after hitting a shot off the tee. “My back is getting better.”

Woods, who was playing in a fourball tournament in Orlando with Fred Couples and Hataoka Koike, is due to compete in this week’s Safeway Open in Napa, California. A 46-year-old Couples won the tournament in 2012 with another former world No1, Vijay Singh, in his group.

The American have two Ryder Cup victories to their name, while Woods’ US team mate Steve Stricker has claimed 17 career wins worldwide and 23 on the PGA Tour.
